Wouldn’t you be bored if you had to stay at home and not be able to get out and go places just because you cannot breathe properly? Exercises have been defined, as physical activities that enhance the health and well being of people. They are, therefore, a good way of keeping in shape and healthy. Exercises have often been linked to strong muscles and a healthy cardiovascular system. It is, therefore, pertinent to note that there are so many benefits that exercises offer to your health. These come in a variety of categories, all of which have various benefits, since they all relate to different parts of the body. However, some exercises are meant for the whole body and these are the most effective ones. The various types include aerobics, flexibility, agility, anaerobic and eccentric among others. As noted, certain exercises are meant to strengthen parts of the body. For example, aerobic exercises like swimming and running majorly focus on strengthening the cardiovascular muscles. What approach do many health practitioners use to arm themselves against the flu and other ‘bugs’ that go around?
In summary, the strategy many use is to support their immune systems carefully during ‘flu seasons.’ Here’s how they do it:
As these seasons also correlate with times when their sun exposure is reduced, they often supplement with vitamin D3. Then, to make certain they both absorb the D3 and convert it to its active form so their bodies can use it, they make sure they have enough saturated fat (yes, saturated fat! It’s not the demon it’s been made out to be – in fact it plays a vital role in the body’s nutritional state and functioning. Good sources are coconut oil, cream and butter. The question in the title is a very important one, and I think all of us should have this question in mind and search for a complete answer. The truth is though, that we only ask about health when we have a serious problem. A official definition of health is given by The World Health Organization who defined health in its broader sense in 1946 as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”. For 1946 it was not a bad definition, but let’s face it, times have changed and life has evolved since then, so today we have 2 new aspects of health to consider: emotional health and spiritual health. If we take a step back and try to see the “big picture” we realize that each aspect of health influences the other aspects, for example if someone has an emotional problem it will cause physical problems, spiritual problems, mental problems and social problems too, so it’s very important to solve the problem when we first see it even if we don’t think that an emotional problem is important. In the incipient phase the emotional problem could be solved by simply talking to a friend, but if we let it develop it could need serious professional help. After this example I think you will want to know more about each aspect of health, so let’s see what they mean and how can we improve them. Read the rest of this entry »

Seabuckthorn, also called seaberry or sandthorn, is a spiny, deciduous shrub spread over large areas of Asia and Europe. It is primarily grown to boost up the fertility of the soil through non-leguminous nitrogen fixation. It also plays a crucial role in the prevention of soil and water erosion. Additionally, it is a good source of vitamins, minerals, omega-7 fatty acid, and macro and micro-nutrients. The juice and oil of this wonder plant are used in the formulation of several herbal medicines. Let’s take a look at some of the significant health benefits of seaberry.

Synergy: The interaction of two or more agents or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects.
Natural medicine is unique in that it aims to treat health using the concept of synergy, rather than simply treating a specific symptom. It is aimed at using natural remedies that work with the body, helping the various systems in the human body get healthy by working with each other, not in isolation.
In addition, it takes into account the great effect that the mind/emotions have on the body, and vice-versa. This is a fascinating topic that is becoming a bigger part of human consciousness. We are all looking for ways to live a healthier life, whether physically, mentally/emotionally, or spiritually, and beginning to realize that conventional medicine with its cause-and-effect prescriptive approach, while powerful in many ways, is nevertheless limited in its ability to heal. Sleep is a naturally occurring process in which the “sleeper” is a state of reduced or absent consciousness. Sensory activity is relatively suspended and the voluntary muscles of the body are largely inactive. Although the individual sleeping has a decreased or inactive response to stimuli (depending on the degree), it is still not a state of hibernation or coma, which are both a much less active state. For instance, a quiet sound would not likely wake a sleeping individual. A loud sound probably would, but would not wake someone in a coma or a hibernating animal. Sleep is also easily reversible, waking up is easy with a relatively mild stimuli whereas hibernation and coma are not so easily recovered from.
Ironically, as sleep is a state of low activity in many respects, it is a time of heightened anabolic (growth and rejuvenation) activity. This is where the body ‘builds up’ the various systems of the body such as immune function, muscle growth and recovery, etc. This is the main reason that sleep is so important and why lack of it can be so debilitating. All mammals and birds sleep, but only some reptiles and even fish do. Read the rest of this entry »
Water is the life blood of every living thing in the world. Most of the earths surface is covered by water. Plants, fruits, vegetables, Animals, and Mammals need water to survive. Humans are no different. Water should be the beverage of choice for all of us. Sadly it is not. As a result some people suffer the consequences of not making significant water drinking a daily priority.
As I grew up my mother would always tell me to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water a day. I’m assuming she heard this somewhere. Perhaps she heard it on Oprah or one of the talk radio shows she used to listen to. I can still here her telling me to drink lots of water till this very day. At times she would not let me drink anything else until I had met my water requirements for the day. Often I would tell her I had drank enough water at the water fountain at school so I could drink kool-aid or soda. That response never worked. Most of my meals as a child were occupied by a glass of water. I’m thankful that she created the habit in me to drink water regularly because it has afforded me good health. Currently experts actually say you should drink water with meals because it helps the body feel refreshed. Read the rest of this entry »
